The Continuous Festival of Easter

On April 1 in 2018 we will celebrate our Risen Savior! Easter is not only celebrated on this day, but it is a continuous festival.

  • Yearly we gather on this day to hear the good news that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.
  • Weekly we receive the good news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. When we receive the Lord’s Supper, we receive the good news that Jesus Christ is present in his very body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. The Lord’s Supper is a meal filled with the promise of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Daily our lives should be an Easter day with a funeral and a resurrection. We put to death our sinfulness and emerge a new creature living before God and one another by the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Daily we place our sins at the cross and trust in the power of new beginnings revealed in the empty tomb.

Without Easter, death would still reign, and we would still be in our trespasses and sins. Faith and hope in God would be in vain. We would only know the wrath and judgment of God. Darkness will have overcome light. Wrath overwhelms peace. Fear shouts over hope. Rage finds no rest. Sadness has no end. We are to be pitied. But in fact, Christ is raised from the dead. Death has no power over us. We are no longer viewed by God according to our trespasses and sins. Death is dead, and your sins are no more. Jesus is our resurrection and our life. Christ is raised from the dead.

Easter changes everything.

Celebrate the good news of Easter yearly, weekly, and daily.
