Interpretating and Preaching New Testament Narratives – Day 2

Today all seven us preached sermons on narratives from the New Testament. I love to be edified by God’s Word, but still tough day. I did find some good sermon moves that I look forward to incorporating into my preaching.

But still seven sermons was hard, even though one of them was mine.

I did appreciate the feedback because each person offered how they heard the sermons. It was good to learn, though I should not have been surprised, not everyone will hear a sermon the same way.

  1. I am interested in what you meant by “some good sermon moves.” Are you refering to movement of use of space (Todd Farley) or movement of thought~ as we talk about in teaching (which can be “entry points” when we can see that our students need to return their brains to the lecture πŸ™‚ or it can be simply moving to a relevant dis-related topic.)
    Thanks Pastor

  2. Yesterday’s sermons were not as much about the performance movements of the body. I was thinking more about the narrative moves. How does a text and sermon move together so that finds an intersection with the lives of the people that are hearing the sermon.
